Tai Chi San Francisco Class Experience
What to expect in our Tai Chi classes in San Francisco
Set to soothing, relaxing music, our San Francisco Tai Chi classes begin with Moving Harmony Rejuvenation Qigong (Chi Kung), a series of meditative movements and stretches designed to calm the mind, relax the body, open the meridian channels, and exercise the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Floor stretching and light calisthenics are also often incorporated in the warm-up.
Afterwards, students work on Tai Chi (Taiji) basics and combinations; stepping and kicking drills to develop balance and stability in the lower body; Master Ng's Swimming Body exercises to develop flexibility and relaxation in the upper body; as well as the Simplified Tai Chi (Taiji) Form.
The focus of the first hour of class -- referred to as our Tai Chi (Taiji) Fundamentals session -- is Master Ng's systematic approach to stance, posture, and forms training; this provides all of our students with a strong and effective foundation for their continued Tai Chi (Taiji) practice and translates into a rich, rewarding, and in-depth experience in this powerful, and equally beautiful, centuries-old health and martial art.
Intermediate and advanced level students continue training into the second hour of class, which is devoted to more intricate Tai Chi (Taiji) forms and weapons training, review, and refinement.
At the conclusion of class, students re-group and practice Bagua Eight Fixed Palms or Five Animal Frolics Qigong as a form of cool-down meditation to end on a note of harmony, tranquility, and accomplishment.
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced Tai Chi practitioner, we invite you to try a class with us, and allow us to share with you our passion for the healing, flowing, and powerful nature of Tai Chi!
